Avengers Infinity War: Everything You Need To Know About Thanos and Infinity Stones

Earth’s mightiest heroes – The Avengers are up against their biggest challenge yet- Thanos. The trailer for Avengers Infinity War has been released and it has won the internet. Marvel has excelled in bringing its charismatic comics characters to the silver screen and Avengers Infinity War is the biggest announcement of the triumph. DC has lagged behind Marvel in making movies which justify the comics character. Avengers Infinity War trailer is set to beat DC’s Justice League, probably because of Warner Brothers’ bad treatment. Who is Thanos?

Thanos is one of the most strongest beings of Marvel Universe. He is ruler of alien species Chitauri, which invaded Earth in Avengers, the first movie. He is also known as The Mad Titan, Thanos destroyed his own home planet. He was born on Saturn’s Moon – Titan, in the group of super beings known as The Eternals. Thanos had an oversized body thus hated the world from the beginning.

As mentioned in the trailer, he is capable of wiping out half of the universe in a click of his fingers – a thing which he has done in comics.

What Are Infinity stones?

Much has been talked about the Infinity stones in previous Marvel movies. You may be wondering what are they? As described by The Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy movie-“Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots. Infinity stones. These stones, it seems, can only be brandished by beings of extraordinary strength.” These are the Infinity stones-


Tesseract is a blue stone capable of teleporting anything from one point in the universe to the other. We have seen its glimpse in Captain America movie.


The Aether is a red floating liquid thing. It fulfills wishes as per comics. In the cinematic universe, we have seen it in Thor the dark world.


We have seen it in Guardians of the Galaxy. It was the stone which destroyed the collector’s home. It is a purple stone which gives incredible power — superhuman strength shooting beams of purple destruction, and possibly wiping out all organic life from a planet just by touching the surface.

It’s the infinity stone which let’s the user control the minds of others. We have seen it in Marvel’s the Avengers. The Vision, currently has this infinity stone on its forehead.

Soul Stone of Marvel comics was a somewhat sentient creature that could trap souls inside another world. Soul stone hasn’t been seen in movies yet.

Time Stone

As the name depicts, time stone let’s the user control time as per his wish. We have seen it in Dr. Strange movie.

These Infinity stones sit together on Infinity Gauntlet which grants its user ultimate power of destruction. Thanos wants them for wooing his love – Death. Yes, you read it right. Thanos loves Death madly. Death is portrayed as a female character in Marvel Universe.
